Missing an Opportunity to Protect Patients and Save Dollars

In the wake of pharmaceutical companies paying large sums of money to settle allegations of illegal kickbacks to doctors, the Physicians Payment Sunshine Provision or the “Disclosure Law” provides the transparency necessary to reduce improper behavior.  Unfortunately, the Center’s for Medicare & Medicaid Services missed the October 1, 2011 deadline for implementing this law, ignoring the consequences inherent in allowing drug and device companies to compromise the objectivity of our nation’s doctors.
